Autism: Refrigerator Mothers
Autism is believed to cure in the years 1950 and 1970. It was the devastation of many mothers of autistic children – not to mention the stigma attached to each of these women.

During this time, it was believed that health care was found in autism in September. It was said that the injury was a bad mother – that is, the mothers received a note of “Refrigerator Mothers.” It was believed that their poor parenting skills and their emotional coldness caused autism. The doctors said that their behavior toward the child’s cold resulted in the autistic son or daughter has speech difficulties, problems and socialize with others, and their endless rituals.
What a cruel punishment of these women have suffered! Their life was of course quite difficult to raise an autistic child. Then, labeled as “Refrigerator Mother,” this could be nothing less than providing ongoing mental anguish, low self-esteem and many other issues.
It ‘hard to believe or understand that this term must be created by a man – Bruno Bettleheim and that the medical community has become the explanation for hook, line and lead. Although Bettleheim was one of the first child development specialists to focus on autism, was far from an expert. His self-proclaimed “cause” is certainly proof.
